A student Direct Loan borrower who is graduating, leaving school, or dropping below half-time enrollment is required to complete Exit Counseling. The Undergraduate Financial Aid Office utilizes the Department of Education’s online Exit Counseling module at https://studentaid.gov/exit-counseling. This module ensures students understand their loan obligations and are prepared for repayment by reviewing repayment plan options, the anticipated monthly repayment amount, debt management strategies, the importance of repaying the loans, tax benefits available, etc. Students completing Exit Counseling should be prepared to provide updated contact information and the contact information of references/next of kin.

To compliment Exit Counseling, students are also encouraged to use the financial literacy resources available through Princeton Financial Literacy. This program provides resources, tools, and information to promote financial wellness while at Princeton and beyond.
