Additional Aid Application Requirements

Parents who do not file a U.S. tax return

U.S. Citizens
If your parent is a U.S. citizen and is not required to file a U.S. federal income tax return, a non-filer statement must be uploaded after you submit the PFAA. Sources of income should be listed on this form with supporting documentation (e.g., W-2 statements, disability benefit statements) for each source.

Canadian Citizens
If your parent is a Canadian citizen, the first four pages of the T1 General for 2022 must be uploaded after you submit the PFAA.

International
If your parent files a tax return in their country of residence, both the original and a full certified and translated copy of the return (if not in English) that covers the majority of the 2022 calendar year should be uploaded after you submit the PFAA. If your parent is not required to file a tax return, a non-filer statement must be submitted in lieu of tax information. Sources of income (e.g., interest, employment income, real estate income) should be listed on this form with supporting documentation for each source.

Non-custodial Parent's Form

If your parents are divorced, separated, or unmarried and living in separate households, your non-custodial parent must complete a Non-custodial Parent's Form. If your custodial parent is remarried, you do not need to complete this form.  The custodial parent and stepparent information will be used to evaluate eligibility for need-based financial aid at Princeton.

The Non-custodial Parent's Form is available in three different versions:

Your non-custodial parent should complete the appropriate version. This form, along with 2022 income documents, may be uploaded after the PFAA is submitted or sent directly to our office.

It is Princeton’s policy to require information from both parents in order to determine eligibility for financial aid. Under exceptional circumstances, the non-custodial parent's information may be waived at the discretion of the Financial Aid Office. Applicants may receive consideration for a waiver by submitting the Non-custodial Parent Waiver Request Form. This form, along with the necessary statements, may be uploaded after you submit the PFAA. If a waiver has been granted in a prior year, you do not have to submit a waiver request in any subsequent year.
